A Medical doctor, Hassan Yakubu, has been arraigned bu Adamawa state police command for alleged removal of a 24 year old patient in his clinic.

Following the arrest, Police prosecutor say ; it was to help with their investigations into the alleged theft of the kidney of the 24-year-old male patient leveled against the doctor. Kidney theft?

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Othman Abubakar, confirmed the arrest of the doctor. He said the doctor was interrogated by officers of the command's criminal investigations department.

The incident had now left the 24-year-old victim, Isa Hamma, in a life – threatening condition, due to alleged medical lapses on the part of the medical doctor who treated him for stomach complications. PUNCH REPORT

Isa, whose kidney, according to his relative, Umaru Hammanseyo, was allegedly removed, owing to medical errors on the part of the doctor, had been placed on a weekly dialysis at a Medical Centre.

Hammanseyo, the victim’s uncle, said Yakubu, who treated Isa, at his Clinic, for stomach issues, ended up operating the victim on July 8 but allegedly removed his kidney in the process.

The complications further degenerated with the face and legs of the victim becoming swollen which prompted the family to return to the accused doctor who later referred them to the Federal Medical.

Hammanseyo said it was at Gombe hospital that medical officials working with the Federal Medical Centre told them that Isa’s kidney had been “removed.”
