It was gathered that No life was lost in the incident as the petrol tanker fell in which the area turns Petrol Land
Eyewitnesses said the driver of the trailer immediately took to his feet for fear of being lynched by youths of the area who were reportedly still in celebration mood before the sad incidence occurred. Some suspected area boys spotted the place to scoop fuel for the fell tanker
It was gathered that the incident caused blockage of roads leading to library junction in the area and of time of filling this report the fuel has spread to some parts of the area of the town.
It was gathered that the area Boys in that community brought out jerry cans to scoop fuel with plastic bowls and foams.
Officers of Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps were seen controlling the situation while rapid intervention unit of federal polytechnic Ilaro was also on ground .
An eyewitness, who was at the scene when it happened, said " it was a miracle that the accident didn’t claim anybody’s life . “If anybody had told me nobody died with the level of the content of the trailer, I would not have believed it because the place the tanker fell into is always a crowded spot.
"We thank God that the incident happened very early in the morning before market women resumed for their daily activities and not about two days ago when the Paramount-ruler of the town Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle celebrated his 50th birthday, an occasion that was graced by several dignitaries including the Governor of the State Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Ooni of Ife, Alaafin of Oyo and others",he said.
